The chairlift to Linken at 1003 meters above sea level will be out of operation for the 2024/2025 season.
In March 2029, Narvik will host the World Alpine Ski Championships. In the years leading up to the event, extensive venue upgrades will take place, starting with the new chairlift, LinkenExpressen.
LinkenExpressen will run from the Upper Cable Car Station at 656 meters, to Linken at 1003 meters, and will follow a different route than the existing chairlift.
Operating the old chairlift from 1990 requires substantial investments, and the organization has decided to allocate these resources toward new infrastructure rather than maintaining an aging lift. As a result, the current chairlift will not be in service for guests this season.
The old lift will remain in place during the construction of the new chairlift, and it will be used for materials transport during the construction period. Afterward, it will be dismantled.
We are planning to open the new LinkenExpressen in time for the 2025/2026 ski season.
